Tanner's Blessing

Today Tanner was blessed and he was an angel. He didn't cry or fuss, just looked all around, perfectly content. He looked so cute too. Our good friend Annie made the outfit for her grandson, who is now 8-months old, and with the consent of her daughter Meghan...who is also our good friend...Tanner wore it for his blessing. He looked so sweet in his Christopher Robin hat and his little romper and booties. So cute.

Now, for the good part...oh yes, there is a good part and it begins with the word Riley...Riley decided that he couldn't let Tanner have the day all to himself, so he crawled under the bench and up to the front while Todd and I were listening to the High Couneleman speak. (yes, it was high counsel Sunday and the Stake President was there visiting!!!) Anyway, he climbs up the stairs to the stage, runs to the back and starts running through the back row of seats to the other side of the chapel!! Annie turns around and says not to worry that someone up front would grab him. Well, no one up front grabbed him and Riley made it to the light switch. Can you guess what happened next? You got it, Riley TURNED OUT THE LIGHTS!!!! This is when Annie turns around and says, "Um, you better go get him now" I could have died of embarassment! I had to cross the entire chapel in front of the High Counselman, climb the stairs, go to the back of the stage, turn the lights on, and grab my child who is now screaming at the top of his lungs "LIGHTS!!!" and run to the door which of course is located at the BACK of the chapel. Oh, the joys of parenthood. Someday we will laugh about this. :)

Easy Recipe

Easy Apple Dumplings

2 apples
1 tube crescent rolls
3/4 stick butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup apple juice

Peel apples and either slice or dice. Wrap apple in crescent roll and place seam side down in baking dish.

Melt butter in a small pan. Add sugar and apple juice. Cook until sugar is dissolved.

Pour over dumplings and cook for 30-minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

Try these...they are super easy and yummy. If you want to go super decadent, then use butter flake crescent rolls. Mmmmm!!!

Getting There

Well, Todd has taken the past 2-days off of work to get going on this bedroom. It is coming along really well. The closets are in, the drywall is done, the sanding is nearly done and we hope to have it painted by tomorrow. Pretty exciting!!! Todd is a genius if I do say so myself!!! :) Riley likes to help too whenever he can. His services are in high demand ya know.

Back to Church

Tanner is now 5 1/2 weeks old and went to church for the first time today. He slept the entire time and woke up 10-minutes before church let out to eat and then went back to sleep. Everybody loved his hair...it was sticking straight up today like a wild man. It was pretty cute. He let everybody hold him and smiled at them all. Riley on the other hand...well, let's just say that his first time back to church after 5-weeks was memorable. And by memorable, I mean that everyone will remember him banging his head against the nursery door trying to get back to his mama and daddy. To be fair to him though, the head banging only lasted a couple of minutes and then he was fine.

I tried to get Tanner to smile today, but this is all I could get?!?! The little stinker. :)

FHE at the ER

Okay, we know it's Thursday and not Monday, so technically it can't be FHE, but we spent enough time together tonight that it counts anyway!!! Here's the scoop, Riley's head had a collision with the glass door...amazing how that happens. He wanted out and I said no so he hit his head on the door until it broke. It took 2-hits! By the time I walked from the kitchen to the living room with Tanner in tow, the door had smashed and Riley was bleeding...EVERYWHERE!! The sound of glass crashing and your child screaming is the worst sound ever. I was panic-stricken. I put Tanner on the floor, went and grabbed Riley, put a receiving blanket up to his head, then called Todd at work all hysterical-like. Todd came home and we went to the ER.

Well, long story short, one X-ray, one head staple, 5 chicken nuggets and a frosty, and FOUR HOURS later, we are finally home and have lived to tell the tale. If anyone doubts that Heavenly Father knows us all and watches over us, just look at our door and then at Riley's head. You will instantly see that angels were most definitely watching over our little one keeping him safe from serious harm.

p.s. Tanner, of course, was perfect!! :)

!!!Riley's Room Disaster!!!

Well, we finally got Riley a "big boy bed" because of the complete disaster he has caused while in his crib. I'll let the video speak for itself?!?! :)
