Sleeping Habits

Riley has this strange ability to fall asleep in very strange ways. We frequetnly have to run for the camera so we can document this phenomenon. I'm not sure why he decided to wear a 3T hat...MUCH MUCH to small for his large cranium...on this hot and humid June night, but then again, when does a 3-year old's actions ever make sense? :)

Antioch Park

We found the funnest..I know that's not a real word, but it totally fits here...we found the FUNNEST park this past week. It is a bit of a drive from our house (only about 20-minutes, but with so many nice parks within walking distance from our house and gas being so costly, it's a little hard to justify), but the drive was totally worth it.

First of all, it is absolutely gigantic!!! The childrens' section is only a small part of it. There are several jungle gyms to chose from...all look brand new. Also, there was a really fun re-creation of an old town, complete with a jail that the kids loved. There were a ton of trails with geese and ducks...which Tanner loved and Riley didn't, but that seems to be the way of it. :) The kids had so much fun here and we can't wait to go back.

Father's Day Weekend

Well, we had an exciting weekend full of home improvement, parks, storms, and, well...I'll just have to show you some pictures! :)

First and foremost, Todd has been working on the molding in our kitchen, and let me tell ya, I have one handy hubby because it looks AMAZING!!! (It will look even better once we get it all painted, but that's another story.)

With all that hard work, we had to get some play time in. So, it was off to the park for us. The kids, of course, loved it. Riley really loves to play with other kids, and there were plenty to be found this night, including a girl who called herself "pikachoo" (for all you Pokemon fans, I'm sorry if I spelled it wrong!)

We have to mention the small little tornado siren that went off sending us to the basement...of course, it was only in our neighborhood, so I think something was just off that night. We didn't see a tornado, but we did see a pretty cool thunder storm.

And what weekend would be complete without a baby powder explosion? Not ours, that's for sure. :)

My New Job

I'm so excited because I have a new job...okay, it's not really a job per say, but I do make money...yea! Each week I go to all these yard sales and see things that are just dirt cheap, but I don't need them so I don't buy them. That all changed last week. I decided to buy those items that I didn't need and sell them on Craig's List. In one weekend I made $36 profit! It may not sound like much, but extra money is always nice. The things I have found that sell really well here in good ol' Kansas City are the Little Tikes toys. Not just any toys, but toys like wheelbarrows, slides, tool benches, play houses, picnic benches, etc... Also, Thomas the train stuff sells pretty well. So, if any of you stay-at-home mommies out there want some extra cash and are willing to put in the time of yard sale"ing", then here is an option. One more thing, I only "shop" around my home. (I don't want to have gas money eat away at my profits after all!) Happy hunting!

The Boat Ride

Riley was really excited to go on the boat ride! He loves to steer the boat and ding the bell. Well...

This is how it started out. Riley waited so patiently for the boat ride to start...

Then, he got a partner in his boating adventure...

Then, his boating buddy completely took over the ship...even though there were TWO steering wheels per row so each child could have their own. Riley was not thrilled about this, but just let the boy do his thing.

After the boat ride, the worker "helped" Riley out of the boat and let him DROP in the DYED BLUE water!!! What the...?!?! So, all in all, Riley had a pretty crappy boat ride.

Worlds of Fun

Today was Garmin's Worlds of Fun day. The weather was just perfect...even though it was a little bit hot and pretty humid, it was cloudy and breezy. The kids had fun and so did Todd and I. However, Todd did lose his brand new Tifosi sunglasses on the train ride...bummer. Needless to say, he was not happy about that. Riley may be cautious with a lot of things, but he LOVES rides. Anything that spins, goes up and down, and moves fast is right up his alley. Tanner is not cautious at all. He loved Snoopy and tried to bite his face. He also loved the Nerf ball building where Nerf balls were flying everywhere.

Mowing the Lawn

Riley loves his daddy! The minute Todd went out to mow the lawn, Riley wanted to get his lawnmower and go outside too.

He loved to wave at Todd as he passed by. It was pretty cute.

Happy Birthday to Me!

We had to go and "play" today at one of my favorite places, The Legends. The boys played in the fun fountain...I could hardly keep Tanner out of it...while I played in the GAP and Banana Republic! Oh, we all had so much fun! Today I am the big 29 (I know, I know, I can hear you all gasping when reading this because 29 is SOOOOOO old?!?!?) Anyway, the day started out kind of crappy so I had to do something fun and shopping and water seemed just the remedy.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of Riley on the "yellow brick road". I mean, we live in Kansas after all!

Weekend Part III

We ended the weekend by having fun in our jungle of a backyard with our fun water toy. Riley was a little tentative at first...as he is with all new things...but quickly joined Tanner in the fun and had a blast. It was a gorgeous day...not too hot and not too humid. It was just really nice, albeit a bit boring. But hey, sometimes the best things in life are made up of the un-flashy, everyday, hum-drum, "boring" moments.

Weekend Part II

After yard saling, we started work on the moulding in our kitchen. We didn't get too much farther than what you see in the last picture because we had a block party to go to in our cul-de-sac. We are going to put some really cool, custom designed moulding all around the top edges of the 5 1/2 foot tall wainscotting that is going to be awesome. We'll post pictures when we actually get around to finishing it. It should be this week...I hope!

Weekend Part I

We started out this weekend with the ever popular yard saling! We all pile in the van with the back seats folded down and turn on a movie for the kids while Todd and I go shopping. Riley actually loves to go yard saling with us because he knows that he is going to get some fun stuff. We now have our deck "decked" out with so many fun things for the kiddos to play with, and all were bought at yard sales.
