Primary Talent Show

Riley went to his first Primary activity last night...a talent show. Riley finger-painted a really cool picture that I framed and displayed.

Luckily we had the painting, because he wanted nothing to do with performing with all the other sunbeams. I'm sitting behind them all on stage just so Riley would get up there. You'll notice Riley on the side of the stage, not singing jingle bells with his class. This video is pretty short because, if you listen carefully, you can hear Tanner's piano debut. He snuck away from Todd while he was filming Riley and started pounding away. :)

After a long night of "talent", Riley crashed pretty hard...so hard in fact, that it didn't even bother him that his face was smooshed up against his bed rails. Ouch!!

Sunbeams

Riley has now spent TWO Sundays in Primary and Sunbeams without me!!! This is a huge milestone. Not only has he spent the time without me, but he has actually had fun and has done really well. When I come to pick him up, he is just as happy as can be. The first thing he says to me is, "Oh, hi mom. Riley had fun today in Primary!" (yes, he still occasionally refers to himself in the third person...darn that Elmo for teaching him that!!!) Anyway, it's a miracle...literally. Hooray!! Now just to get that little stinker potty trained. (Is it too much to ask for TWO miracles?!?!) :)

Goat-Lovin Tanner

We went to the farm yesterday with some friends. We had so much fun...especially Tanner. This was his first visit to the farm since he started walking. He LOVED walking around with the goats. Riley on the other hand kept getting goats coming up to him and trying to eat his clothes...he didn't appreciate that. So, I had Riley petrified in one corner and Tanner running amok all over the place. It was tricky to keep track of them both.

I've Been Tagged...

If you were stuck on a deserted island...

1-What 3 foods would you hope you could find on the island?
~chips and salsa
~burnt almond fudge ice cream
~Ham and cheese potatoes

2-What 5 CD's would you want to have with you...assuming you could play them?
~Wicked
~KT Tunstall's "Eye to the Telescope"
~Beethoven's Ninth Symphony
~Brahms' Requiem
~James Taylor's Greatest Hits

3-What Gilligan's Island character would you want to have with you?
~What's Gilligan's Island? (just kidding!) But seriously, I have to think way
back to my childhood of watching Nick and Nite. Ummmmm, Gilligan would just
bug me too much, the rich people would do me no good, the movie star would
also be worthless, so I'm going to have to say the Professor...he was a
character right?

4-How would you spend your day?
~Exploring
~Reading
~Resting
(What else could you do?!?!)

5-What 3 items would you hope washed ashore with you?
~Todd (does he count as an "item?")
~Books, lots and lots of them
~My cell phone...because I'm sure Sprint serves all deserted islands.

Un-Plugged

Tanner is officially "un-plugged". He took off yesterday and hasn't looked back since. He is a terrific walker, if not a little Nazi-soldier esque, which isn't surprising since he has been walking for months, just with his walker.

"Plug him in"

Well tanner started walking today!...sort of. He'll only walk if you're touching him. It doesn't really matter where, just a fingertip will do. It's kind of like he runs on electricity and you have to plug him in. Hey, baby steps.

The Farm

Well, the farm officially opened this week and we were all so excited. We had a lot of fun feeding the goats, riding the tractors, playing at the Dairy Barn, mining for gold, digging in the sand, sliding down the slide...the list goes on and on. I have been waiting for this day for a long time. We love the farm!

Peek-A-Boo

Tanner's new favorite game is peek-a-boo. It is really adorable...of course I have to say that because I'm his mommy, but it really is cute. He does it all the time. He gets a big kick out of it.

...and yes, I realize that he is totally filthy, but it's hard keeping two boys clean. By the end of the day they are both ready for a bath.

Deals, Deals, Deals

Well my friends, I have been on a saving frenzy lately. Not just saving, but more like a, "I want my family to be prepared in case of an emergency, and I want to do it in the cheapest way possible" frenzy. I went to some yard sales today where I met a woman who buys LOTS of things, (like lotions, shampoos, razors, etc...), throughout the year with coupons and then sells them for dirt cheap at a yearly yard sale. She wouldn't tell me her secrets, but I so want to know how she does it. I have absolutely no desire to buy these things and then sell them again, but I want to buy them to put in our food storage. My ultimate goal?...to have enough stored to supply my family for a year with little to no shopping necessary. It's going to take me a while, but then again, everything worth doing takes a while.

So, the purpose of this post is to find out what you all know that I may not. If any of you have terrific saving tips, I want to know. I have posted a new link list to our blog, Deal Busters, of sites that I have found where I have saved money. If you have any other websites that you know of, please share. :)
