Grandpa Tom's Visit

We had so much fun with Grandpa Tom. Here are some highlights:

A quick trip to the Nelson Atkin's Museum of Art in Kansas City. This building was pretty amazing with so much art...and it was free. Hooray! We love free. We wish we could have stayed longer, but, well, we had Riley with us. Need I say more?

Riley earned all of his cotton balls, so we got to go to Zonkers. We had so much fun going on the rides and eating pizza. I also got to play Deal or No Deal and I won 75 tickets. It was great. Riley was able to buy a bouncy ball and a slap bracelet with my winnings. :)

Quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen was my dad playing drums on Rock Band. We got a video clip, but I think we'll forgo posting that...although it is pretty hysterical.

They boys loved their Grandpa Tom...although Tans was a little unsure at his first meeting with Grandpa. I've never seem him screw up his face in such a sad little expressions as when he first saw my dad. That all changed pretty quick when he realized how much fun his Grandpa is.

Dad with Alex Schriner's cape (Alex was the Tab Choir organist for about 50-years and also my Grandpa Ken's best friend.) Apparently, Alex bought this cape in France and was so proud of it, that he wore it to every rehearsal and concert the choir had. My dad got a good chuckle when he saw that cape.

Tabernacle Choir Exhibit

We went to the Visitor's Center in Independence yesterday where they had an exhibit on the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. When we got in there we saw pictures of my Grandpa Ken, my Aunt Ann, My dad and my mom. It was pretty fun to see all the history of the choir. They had a video of a portion of an original broadcast where you can see my Aunt Ann and my Grandpa Ken. My dad was singing in it too, but couldn't be seen in the video.

This video clip has Ann in it. She is on the end of the row to the far left, right in the middle of the screen.

This video clip is of my Grandpa Ken...my dad points him out.

A Momentous Moment

Yesterday was a momentous day. It was the first day where Riley sat through Primary and Sunbeams without having to be taken out. Not only did I not have to take him out, but I didn't once have to say, "If you do that one more time..." He was a perfect little rambunctious 3-year old. He still had a hard time sitting still... what Sunbeam doesn't?!?! But he really seemed to be enjoying himself. He was playing with his little friends and participating in music time and helping his teacher in his class. He even colored the picture that his teacher brought for all the kids. It was absolutely amazing, so he got a prize.

We are not going to give prizes every time Riley does well in Sunbeams, but this Sunday he did get a prize...a big one. He got a Thomas Ride on Train (gotta love Walmart clearance!). As you can see, he loved it so much that he wanted to sleep with it. Hey, you go right ahead buddy! :)

Just thought I would give everyone the exciting news...at least I think it's exciting anyway. The Kansas City Symphony Chorus is going to be singing the National Anthem for the KS/KU game on March 1st and it is going to be broadcast on ESPN. So, for you basketball fans...at least I think it's basketball?!?!...mark you calendars! :)

A Day In The Life...

A Day in the life of Riley...

This kid makes trains and train tracks out of absolutely EVERYTHING! If I ever hear him say, "Mommy, what is it?", or "Mommy, look what I found!" all I have to say is, "A train" and I am right 99.9% of the time.

Riley loves to don his protective goggles and take his drill to whatever gets in his way...usually it's Tanner.

I walked in to the kitchen to see Riley underneath the truck. When I asked him what he was doing, he said, "The truck is broken. I'm fixing the truck." I guess that he sees his dad fix a lot of things around the house and he wants to do the same. How he knows to get under the truck to fix it is beyond me though?!?!

Look Familiar?

At the Garmin Winter Event on Saturday, there were a lot of Charicature artists there to draw your picture. This was the one Todd and I got. I laughed so hard when he came out looking like Rocky..."Adriane!!!"...too funny.

Walkin' Baby

Tanner loves to walk with his little walker. He walks all day long. He is getting really good at getting around any obstacle in his way, which makes my job so much easier! The little stinker can walk without it, but prefers to have something to hold on to. We just love this little guy!

Happy Birthday Tanner

Tanner just turned the big ONE!!! We can't believe it. Where has the time gone? :) Nanna flew out for Tanner's birthday and we had so much fun. We went to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner where Tanner was entranced by all the monkeys and elephants and fish. Then we all got to ride the carousel (well, not ALL of us...I wouldn't be caught dead on one of those). Tanner loved it. Tanner got some cute gifts that Riley promptly claimed as his. I'm not even sure Tanner has had a chance to play with them yet?!?! Sounds like a lot of fun right? Well, Todd and I unfortunately won't be winning any parent of the year awards for this birthday, because we forgot the camera!!! We just could have died when we realized. Poor Tanner. Riley has an entire 15-minute video Todd made of his first birthday, but Tanns gets nothing, nada, zilch. :(

The next day however, we went to the Children's museum where we did take some pictures, well, 4 pictures to be exact. What the heck is wrong with us?!?!
