Riley is Adenoid FREE!

We went in for surgery bright and early this morning.  Riley was a trooper.  After the surgery, the doctor came out and told me that it was a good thing we had this surgery because his adenoids were huge.  He said that this surgery should make a big difference...I sure hope so!

Waking up from anesthesia is always hard.  Riley was pretty upset by the time that I could go back and see him. I just tickled his back for a bit while we watched cartoons and he calmed down a bit.  He fell asleep in the car almost the second I buckled him in.  He came home and slept for a while and is now eating Cheeze-Its and playing Lego Batman...I think it's safe to say that all is well :)

Riley's dog, Chocolate, and his favorite blanket got to go into surgery with him.  He thought it was pretty darn funny when the nurse put a hair cover on Chocolate.

Beat the Heat!

I has been HOT HOT HOT here in Kansas City. Ridiculously hot if you must know. I am getting pretty sick of seeing the inside of my walls. It is so hot that going outside is really not an option. Last week, however, I decided to brace the heat and take the kids on an adventure to Crown Center Plaza in downtown Kansas City.

They have an exhibit called Kidscape that changes 2-3 times a year. Right now it is all about the rainforest. They always do a good job of designing a fun, interactive place for kids to visit.

Afterwards, we had some ice cream at a local ice cream shop and then headed outdoors to beat the heat by playing in the fountains. Riley and Tanner absolutely loved it! Ava...not so much. For the most part, Ava and I just skirted the fountains.

New Kitchen Anyone?

I'm pretty sure that Ava NEEDS this kitchen for her birthday...and Christmas...too expensive for just one holiday. Luckily, the two are pretty close together...kind of. Okay, they are 3 months apart, but for a 2-year old it just doesn't matter :)

Poor Riley

Last night was kind of a sad night at our house. We had some friends over for dinner, which was really fun. After dinner we went downstairs to play Kinnect...which was also really fun. Shortly after we started playing our games however, the night took a turn for the worse.

Poor Riley was going to go upstairs. He ran to the first stair, missed, and landed directly on his mouth. It all happened so quickly, that he didn't even have time to throw his hands down to catch himself.

He knocked one of his teeth out...a tooth that was already super loose. He also knocked another tooth back (see bottom picture. This tooth was not loose, but thankfully it was a baby tooth.

Since he landed on his mouth, his top two teeth went straight into his bottom lip. Luckily, those two particular teeth are just coming in and not too long yet, or they may have gone all the way through. Yuck!

Needless to say, there was a lot of blood...a LOT...and a lot of tears. BUT, there is a happy ending to this story. Aunt Jenny sent Riley and Tanner a super nice package with SUPER nice Legos in it. Riley has all but forgotten about his mouth and has been happily playing with his new Harry Potter Legos ALL day. Thanks Aunt Jenny! Your gift could not have come at a better time!

Kara and Ava

I have a niece, Kara, who is severly disabled. She is such a beautiful little girl who has the BEST smile! We were recently at her home in Denver. Melissa (Kara's mom) and I were talking in the kitchen when we heard Kara making some noise. We walked over to where she was and saw her laughing at Ava who was crawling all over her chair. It was pretty dang cute!

Twins!

I was making Dutch Babies the other day when I came upon this...a single egg with 2 yolks in it. I thought it was pretty wierd. So, I cracked another one and what do ya know, another set of twins. Hmmm...do you think this is chicken farm hormones at work?

Adam's Wedding

My cousin Adam's wedding was a great excuse to go to Utah this summer. His wedding was really, really nice. I still cannot believe my little twerp of a cousin is married?!?!? I hope he and his new wife, Emily, will be very happy.

Speaking of marriages, my sister Jenny got married earlier this year.  We all LOVE her husband, Chris.  We were so glad that they were able to come from back East to go to the wedding.

Adam and Emily got married in the Las Vegas Temple.  I had never been to that temple before.  It is interesting to look at from the outside, but really pretty on the inside.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love my sisters?  Well, I do.  Lots!  I had so much fun with them on this trip.

Ava's Red Shoes

For some reason, Ava absolutely LOVES to put on my apron. Loves it! Today she decided to pull my red shoes out of my closet to wear with her ensemble. Good choice Ava :)

Dakota and Riley

If you know me at all, then you'll know that I am not an animal lover. I would be perfectly happy never having a pet...ever. I'm not an animal hater by any means, I just don't want to have to deal with all that an owning an animal entails. I mean, I deal with enough poop, noise, dirt and smells as it is being a mother of 3 kids. I know that one day I will have to bite the bullet and get a pet for my kids. Just seeing Riley's face with my step-dad's dog, Dakota, is almost enough to get me to the pet store right now...almost.

The Cabin

We had so much fun at our cabin when we went to Utah. The cabin holds so many great memories for me and I love being able to share it with my family. My favorite thing is hearing my boys beg to go play outside. I love it! The boys and Ava had so much fun...a serious amount of fun...playing with their cousins up at the cabin. I will never forget Riley, Nathan and Tanner bounding up the stairs playing Toy Story:

Riley: "I'll be Woody"
Nathan: "I'll be Buzz"
Tanner: "Yeah, and I'll be Jessie!"

Lauren and Ellie really took Ava under their wing. She LOVED them...and why not, they gave her their un-divided attention and we all know Ava loves attention!

Can't wait until next time Osbornes! Love ya!!!

Newsweek Cover

So, guess who's watch design Sarah Palin is wearing on the cover of Newsweek?  I'll give you a hint, he is tall, dark and handsome.  Yup...Todd!  Here is a link to the Newsweek photo shoot featuring Todd's watch.
