Riley Learns to Spell...Sort Of

Two funny things that Riley did this week:

We got a new computer this past week and Riley's bookmarked websites are now in a different spot that he isn't used to yet. Well, Todd heard Riley calling for help so he went to go see what was up. He got upstairs to see Riley on the computer looking for his websites. When Todd looked at the computer, he saw that Riley had done a google search for "rileyswebsit". It was pretty funny.

Yesterday Riley was typing a pretend email on a random keyboard that we have. I asked him if he wanted to type a real email to his grandma and he said that he did. The only things I helped him with were placing periods and spaces. I also helped him soundd out the word grandma...and phonetically, the "ah" in grandma should really be spelled with an "o". When I told Riley that he had just spelled "grand-moe" he thought that was absolutely hysterical! Here is the email that he typed:

hi grandmo

riley luv yoo. ges wut? i finc its bcus yoo r mi grandma.

luv riley .

It's Official

Well, it's finally official folks...we are indeed having a GIRL!!! We are so excited we can hardly stand it. I can finally start shopping for girly things. I can't believe that after 5-years in the blue, I get to join the party that is pink! Hooray! :)

A CA Redwood State Park

On our way back to Yuba City following our fun beach trip, Todd found an amazing state park (that incidentally is going to close down due to CA's inability to make and keep a budget!) This park was absolutely beautiful and the kids had a lot of fun playing on the trails and on the old Redwoods. AND, there is actually some pictures of me...shocking I know. :)

Baby Audrey

Everyone fell in love with Mike and Anastasia's little baby Audrey. This little thing is SO tiny! She was born 3-weeks premature and at almost 3-months old, she doesn't even weigh 9-lbs yet. She is so sweet and adorable and had us all wrapped around her little finger.

Taking a Break

Okay, now that I've inundated you with half of our trip...I'm going to take a little break and post the rest of it tomorrow. :) Get some rest, you'll need it.

The Life of Tanner

We found Tanner in this pose during a lot of our visit to the boardwalk. It was pretty funny.

The Boardwalk...Can you say fun!

We all had so much fun at the boardwalk...and even though I'm not in any of the pictures AGAIN I had a blast. I can't go on any of the rides because of this big ol' tummy I have, so I was the one taking all the pictures. Charlene and Shelton bought several all day passes and we used those things up. It really was fun.

About half-way through the day Ethan came up and asked Riley if he wanted to go on rides with him. Riley just looked at him with such an excited look on his face and said, "Me? You want to go on rides with me?" It was adorable. They spent the rest of the afternoon hold hands running from ride to ride...which gave Uncle Ryan a break. :)

Riley and Grandpa on the Ferris Wheel.

Tanner having a little chat with a sleeping Audrey.

Ryan was so nice to go on the rides with Todd and the boys. I had to laugh when I saw him hop up on the merry-go-round.

This picture totally cracked us up. This is the face that Riley makes when we tell him to smile for the camera...and I'm not sure what Tanner is doing?!?!

The Beach!!!

The most exciting part of the whole trip for the boys was the beach. I just wish it would have been a little bit warmer. It was pretty chilly...but that didn't stop our kids from immersing themselves in the water. At one point Tanner even turned blue he was so cold. Ahh the wonders of youth. Again, thank heavens for Ryan and Shelton helping watch the boys. I was pretty pooped from spending the whole morning/afternoon at the boardwalk. I pretty much just sat on a beach towel the entire time...the story of my life. :)

Poor Tanner's shorts didn't stand a chance of staying up once they were soaked through...which happened approximately 3-seconds after stepping foot onto the beach.

Andy, Aaron and Ethan headed up a huge sand castle project that Riley and Tanner really got into...literally into. Tanner apparently thought that he was king of the castle for the amount of time he spent sitting in it while the others worked around him.

Oh Andy, don't hate me for taking and then posting this picture. It was just too good to pass up! :) Thank heaven for wives...what would husbands do without them holding up a towel while they changed?

Grandma got the boys some really fun sand toys.

The Beach House

The beach house turned out to be perfect! We all fit comfortably and had a great time. The only tragedy was that poor Aaron was devoured by bed bugs. Poor guy. It looked pretty nasty.

The hammock in the backyard was a smashing success.
Now, what kind of Register family reunion would be complete without the XBox 360? Riley really took to his Uncle Ryan and Ryan was kind enough to humor him throughout the vacation.

Tanner was intrigued by Kara's hair accessories. So we obliged him by putting a beautiful bow on his head. Oh yeah, he was looking pretty cool. :)

Charlene had a birthday party for the whole family...at least 3 of us had a birthday in June with several others in May and April. She came up with a family trivia game. When you answered a question right, you got to pick a prize or steal from someone else. It was really fun.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the prizes were widely varied and mostly of the gag-variety? Ethan, we know you like to read, but Hillary Clinton?!?! :)

Monterey Bay Aquarium

We had a lot of fun at the Aquarium in Monterey. However, notice who is missing from all the pictures? That was a really difficult day for me and I spent most of it sitting down. I still enjoyed myself though. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the fun outing!!

One funny thing that happened was Riley telling Todd that he saw a Bat Ray. Todd just looked at him and said that it wasn't a Bat Ray but rather a Sting Ray. Riley was pretty adamant that it was a Bat Ray. So he proceeded to show Todd the sign that said "Bat Ray" with the picture right above it. Yes Riley, that is indeed a Bat Ray. Kids...they keep us humble. :)

Ryan, Riley, Tanner, Melissa and Sean enjoying the beautiful ocean view. We love the ocean!

Kara and Melissa by the really amazing jelly-fish tank. It was the coolest tank they had.

Tanner was in fishy heaven.

Sean, Ryan, Todd...and Tanner who apparently thought Todd NEEDED to eat a cracker right then! Well, it is almost a frameable picture. :)

Tanner and Linell at the "petting zoo". Seriously, thank heaven for Linell. Like I said, I had a really bad day that day with feeling incredibly tired and sick. Linell and Ryan and Sean stepped in a lot to help this poor invalid. Thank you!!!

Riley and Tanner both LOVED the wave exhibit that the aquarium had. They loved it so much that they didn't want to leave...well, Riley left just fine, but Tanner wigged out (big sigh). :)
