Lego Mania

Legos have become a huge part of our kids' playtime. They all love them. Riley loves to build fun things. Tanner loves to destroy those fun things. Ava loves to eat those fun things. It's basically a win-win-win :)

Those Eyes

Todd was out shoveling our driveway in the -17 degree weather and came in with ice crystals all over his lashes. By the time I got the camera out, the ice had melted, but I think you can get the idea by looking at the picture. His lashes were literally frozen.
I can totally understand now the story I used to hear growing up about the missionaries in Minnesota who were out tracting in the winter and one Elder had his eyes freeze shut, while the other had his mouth freeze shut. I used to think that was a Mormon myth, but now
I'm not so sure. Hmmmm.......

The Woes of Broken Bones

Well, poor little Riley broke his collar bone this week...as you can well see. He was trying to do a flip off of our couch (Todd and I had absolutely NO idea he was trying to do flips off the couch!) and landed on his shoulder. I was upstairs putting dinner dishes away and getting FHE ready while Todd was upstairs helping Tanner sit on the potty. All of a sudden we hear Riley screaming. He was sitting on the stairs grasping his left shoulder and his ear. It didn't look broken. It wasn't swollen or any funny colors, so we thought he probably just bruised his shoulder. Well, that was Monday. Today is Thursday and I finally had the brilliant idea that maybe, just maybe this was more than a bruised shoulder. And, sure enough, a broken bone it is. I feel terrible! Todd feels terrible. Riley feels terrible. We all feel terrible.

Tomorrow we go to an orthopedic doctor to see if any more actions need to be taken for Riley's bone to be healed. Wish us luck!

Snow, Snow, Snow

These pictures are from our last big snow storm about 2-weeks ago. I have yet to upload pictures from our more recent snow storm that we had this week where it snowed for 24-hours straight! Blech!!!!

Anyway, Todd made an awesome sledding "hill" in our front yard. Just big enough for two little boys to enjoy, but not too big that it wore them out too quickly. It was a lot of fun...for them, not me. I was safely inside my warm house drinking a hot cup of chocolate staying warm. It's where I prefer to be.

The Musing of a Little Girl

It has been very interesting to see the differences between having boys and having a girl...and there are MANY! One that is very apparent to Todd and myself is how Ava LOVES to talk. This girl doesn't stop talking. Todd couldn't help but take this video of Ava jabbering away.

Pig Tails

Ava's hair is finally long enough for pig tails. They are so cute I can hardly stand it! Have I mentioned lately how much I love having a girl?
