Halloween

For Halloween we went over to a friend's house for dinner, along with a couple other families and then went trick-or-treating. Riley actually didn't care much for the trick-or-treating part...as soon as he got one Hershey chocolate, he was happy. I really need to have a chat with this kid about being more picky with his chocolate, I mean, HERSHEY chocolate?!?! Yuck. Oh well, to each his own. :)

We also went to Garmin today for their Halloween party and to see where daddy worked. However, we were so nervous about how Riley was going to react to Todd's co-workers that we forgot to take any pictures?!?! (Riley did great by the way).

This is Riley's best friend, Lilly. He absolutely loves her. When she sees Riley, she comes over and gives him a hug and a kiss on the cheek and then Riley says, "ohhhh" with a smile on his face. She really is to die for cute! :)

Riley had a cute conductor's hat to go along with his outfit, and though he wore it last night for trunk-or-treat with no problem, he flat out refused to wear it tonight. Too bad.

After visiting this house and getting a hershey kiss, he said, "no mommy" and sat down. He then proceeded to take the kiss out and open and eat it. Again, he needs a good "save yourself for GOOD chocolate" talk.

Well, I took the boys to get their pictures taken...and notice how I only have pictures of ONE of the boys...(Riley, arrgghh?!?!?!) That kid is a big stinker. I even tried to bribe him with a new Thomas train if he would only succumb to taking one eensy-weensy little picture, but no, he would have none of it. Oh well. When he is older and wondering why there are no professional pictures of him I can tell him that I tried. :)

I call these pictures "Head, Pants, Now!" :)

Max and Ruby

Riley has taken quite a liking to the Nick Jr. show, "Max and Ruby". However, he pronounces it "Max and Groovy". The other day Todd and I were trying to get him to say it the correct way. Here is how our conversation went:

Mom: Riley honey, say Max and RRUUBBYY
Riley: Max and GGRROOVVYY
Daddy: No Riley, Max and RRUUBBYY
Riley: (laughing) Oh, yes! Good job daddy! Max and Groovy! Yes!

Oh and, we can't find our old digital camera anymore. What the heck?!?! Is there such a thing as a techno-fairy...they steal your electronics in the middle of the night, but unlike other "fairies" they don't leave you any money under your pillow to buy NEW electronics?!?! AARRGGHH!!!

"Show-r rMom"

Well, it is 10:33pm right now and Riley is...eating Life cereal! I have been trying for the past 2-hours to put this kid to sleep to no avail. Finally, I was struck with "inspiration" and asked Riley, after I had effectively calmed him down by singing primary songs in my hoarsey, cold-infested voice, if he would like some cereal. His reaction was immediate: "Show-rr Mom (he gives the word "sure" at least 3-syllables!)" Then he leaped from his bed and ran to the table. As he ran down the hallway I heard a little, "bowl, spoon and milk please mom." Ever the gentleman. I have already re-filled his bowl, after which he gave an emphatic, "oh, thanks mom!" Well, even if he can scream for 2-hours straight, at least he still remembers his manners?!?! :)

p.s. he managed to scarf down FOUR bowls of cereal before he finally hit the sack!?!? I know what you're thinking and yes, he did eat a good dinner. Boys?!?! They are going to eat me out of house and home. :)

Jib Jab Movie

Riley saw Robyn and Heidi's JibJab movies and thought they were hilarious, so we of course had to follow suit and make Riley his very OWN movie. Really, we must have watched Robyn's movie about a gabillion times! (no joke..I didn't even want to show him Heidi's because that would have meant another 20-minutes at the computer!) He loved it that much. :)

(I need to edit this movie because I didn't realize when making it that my big ol' head would be shown so much!! I need to switch my head with Tanner's head and then it will be just right!) :)

Celebrating Gutter Balls

Points? I don't need no stinkin' points.

Proof

Even though Tanner would have rather been doing pretty much anything else than crawling at this particular moment, we simply had to get some video as proof that he actually can crawl.

Conference Fun

Conference is a bit hard to do with two little munchkins vying for your attention. We had a lot of fun with them though while trying to listen to what was being said at conference.

Crawling around...finally Tanner started crawling...this could be a bad thing?!?!

Wrestling with Daddy...daddy is getting pummeled!

Trying on something new....yikes!! Running with heels, now THAT'S talent. :)

Relaxing with a nice bottle...Riley had gone to sleep so we actually could listen at this point.

Riley was having a lot of fun with daddy's helmet. He would put it on and then look at himself in the door knob. Tanner just couldn't keep his eyes off of his super-cool big brother!

KC Pumpkin Patch

What a week

All I can say is, I'm so glad this week is over! Here is how it went:

Tuesday night-dress rehearsal for the upcoming Kansas City Symphony/Chorus concert. It went well.

Wednesday night-dress rehearsal with the symphony. It went better than well.

Thursday night-dress rehearsal with the symphony. It went HORRIBLY!!!

Friday day-get an email from our conductor telling us how horribly we did and told us that the guest conductor just threw up his hands in an act of "giving up" on us.

Friday night-our first concert (we sang the absolutely gorgeous Durufle Requiem) We got a "pep talk" before the concert that was the biggest downer I have ever heard. We all went on stage feeling like we totally stunk.

Friday night-sing the concert and feel terrible about it.

Saturday morning-read the review in the Kansas City Star of our concert entitled "Durufle Requiem: Symphony Sails, Chorus Sinks".

Saturday all day-dreading going back to sing again that night and the "pep talk" that our conductor is going to give.

Saturday evening (an hour before I have to leave to go to curtain call)-Tanner and I are at WalMart and I lock my keys, purse, and groceries...music folder and concert attire in the Honda...and I know that Todd has already LOST his Honda key.

Saturday evening continued-I start to have a nervous breakdown. Call a lock smith, wait for him to come, pay him $60 for his 2-minute job of unlocking our car, leave the WalMart parking lot with 10-minutes to get to curtain call...it's a 25-minute drive.

Saturday evening continued some more-luckily the choir didn't go on until intermission and I made it just as the chorus was lining up to go on stage. I hear that our conductor really loved our performance from Friday night and that the newspaper review was written by someone who hates choral music and ALWAYS gives us a bad review.

Saturday evening concert-we sang beautifully, and I felt proud to be singing with this chorus. Both our conductor and the Maestro told us we did terrific. I left feeling elated.

Good Reads

My visiting teaching companion told me about this website, www.goodreads.com and I can't get enough of it. Of course, I am a reading junkie so that may be part of it. Anyway, you can go onto the site and write up reviews of books you have read, read others' reviews, make lists of books you want to read (which is great for me since I am always writing "to read" lists and then losing them) and you can chat with other readers. It is highly addicting!!! Anyway, I thought I would spread the news with my fellow book lovers. :)

Our "weekend" project

Well, we really didn't have a lot of time this weekend to do this project, but we did a little on Saturday and a lot last night. We worked until it was dark, and then pulled out our head lamps and worked some more. (Then we had to take a short intermission to watch Heros.) Anyway, it is still a work in progress, as you can see--we feel like it has become the never-ending paint job. It's coming along though. Hopefully we will soon have a home that is not the bane of our neighbor's existence.

Hi Grandma

Riley loves talking to his grandma Charlene...he should, he does it enough. :) Todd inevitably calls his mom every time I leave the house! (and I do mean EVERY time!) I think this is the first time I have seen Riley talk to his grandma...it was pretty cute!
