Gringa Sara

We just incorporated the Spanish speakers of our Stake into our Ward. So, to kick off our new friendships, we had a Chimichanga Fiesta last night. It was a lot of fun and the food was REALLY good! We had a salsa recipe contest where three people were awarded prizes for their salsas...and guess who was the only gringa who won...me! Anyway, just thought I'd do a little bragging. :) Here's the link to the salsa recipe that I used. (I use it all the time and love it!) The only things I changed were that I added a small handful of frozen corn and about a half a cup of rinsed black beans. I also used an anaheim pepper instead of a jalapeno.

Baby Genius

Tanner LOVES to have me open up the piano and then pound away on the keys. I sincerely hope this means he will be a child willing to take piano lessons. In reality though, it won't matter too much if he wants lessons or not because he's getting them!

The New Game

Riley and Tanner's new game involves putting the rocking dog onto the slide and riding down...boys?!?! It is actually pretty funny to watch. What will they think of next?

Recognize This Guy...

Twice this weekend people came up to Todd to tell him that he looked like this guy...

Sure, Phelps can swim I'll give him that, but he has nothing on Todd's good looks or incredible talent.

To Utah We Go

We have been in Utah for the past 2-weeks and we had a great time. I got to see my two sisters and have a girls' night with them and my mom. I also got to go on a double date with my sister and her hubby. We ate at Cafe Rio, we went to IKEA, and we went to Ross...all things that we can't do here in Kansas. It was so much fun. We did a lot of shopping and a lot of playing. I loved all the game nights! Thanks to my family for putting up with us for 2 whole weeks. It was a much needed vacation and I loved it!

The Cabin

We had so much fun up at the cabin. The kids all loved going on walks, fishing, seeing the horses, walking the "roller coaster trail", and of course, playing in the river. It was a blast.

Gardner village

Gardner Village is one of my favorite places to go in Utah. It is so charming and so fun. My mom took us to the little petting farm there which the kids loved! I don't even need to say that Tanner was loving it to the point of tormenting the poor animals. But Riley even warmed up to them and was having fun! Thanks Nanna! Also, my poor mother got "Tanner duty" for a while. He may have added to her gray hairs...not that she has any!...but he kept trying to poke animals in the eye and take a swim in the little pond.

Surprise!!!

We couldn't leave Utah before throwing a surprise princess birthday party for my beautiful 26-year old sister!!! We had a lot of fun eating quesadillas...except for my dad, but that's another story :). We also had a truly delicious bundt cake from this store called "Nothing Bundt Cakes". Thanks mom!!! Then of course we had presents. Each child got to give Aunt Jenny a gift. Then each child got to get a parting thank you gift from "Jenny". :) It was a really fun night.

Steph gave Jenny a book about Obama. Mike promptly told her that she could use that in Afghanistan when toilet paper ran scarce. It was kind of funny.

Riley found his soul mate in Utah. Cute little Savannah was a perfect match for my slightly rambunctious child. They had a lot of fun together. At one point Savannah told Riley about an ouchie on her knee. Riley kissed it better and Savannah gave him a big hug and said "I love you". It was really cute.

Thanksgiving Point

At the end of our trip, we went to the farm at Thanksgiving Point with two of my old friends, Nicole and Chantelle. I cannot believe that I didn't get a picture of the three of us, or more pictures of our kids playing together. In my defense however, I did spend a good amount of my time chasing my fearless son all over the farm. Just look at how that kid stuck his ENTIRE hand into the animal's mouth. What the heck?!?! Anyway, seeing my friends and their absolutely adorable children was one of my favorite things I did in Utah.
