Ava Sings The Hello Song

I was driving the other day and Ava started singing the Hello Song. She totally learned it from nursery because we have never sung it at home. It is pretty darn cute if you ask me :)

What the...?!?!?!?

There is something wrong with this child...and I'm saying this with all the love a mother can muster. First of all, little Tanner has a BIG personality. He cracks me up on a daily basis. Kids flock to him because he is so accepting and fun. He is always trying to make people laugh by being silly.

But....

Tanner for some reason would rather pee anywhere BUT the toilet. I just don't get it! You already have the example of Tanner peeing in the shower, well, here are three more examples:

1. A couple of days ago I walked past my bedroom only to find Tanner peeing IN A CUP...IN MY ROOM. Not my bathroom (not that peeing in a cup in a bathroom is okay), but in my BEDROOM! What the heck?!?!?

2. On Saturday, Todd was doing some home improvement projects when Tanner says, "Dad, I'm going outside for a minute." Todd said okay and Tanner was on his merry way. Todd started thinking about Tanner and what he wanted to do out in the front yard, so he went to go find him. Can you guess what he found? That's right. He found Tanner with his drawers down getting ready to pee off of the front porch.

3. I have rehearsals every Monday night with my choir. Since our rehearsals are downtown, I carpool with others who live close by. I was pulling out of my driveway with one of my car pool buddies (who just happens to by in his late 60's) when I look up and see...Tanner peeing in our front yard. I have to give him props because his stream was pretty impressive, but holy cow did we look like white trash! My passenger just busted up laughing and was telling anybody who would listen about it at choir that night. (Insert big sigh...)

Riley NEVER did this...EVER! Of course, Riley is a rule follower...Tanner on the other hand doesn't even listen to the rules. I'm a little afraid of what the future holds for Todd and I with this one. Good thing he is so stinkin' cute :)

General Conference

We had such a nice General Conference weekend.  And when I say weekend, I really mean Sunday.  We kind of spaced it on Saturday.  There is actually a funny story that goes along with our forgetfulness.  Ready for it?  Here is goes:

It was concert week for me, so I was gone a lot during the week and weekend.  I didn't get anything done around the house, so when Saturday rolled around I went into catch-up mode.  Todd and I worked ALL day!  In the back of our minds we knew it was Conference weekend, but for some reason, the thought never came to the front of our minds.

Well, after I put the kids to bed, I had to make a trip to Walmart for milk, eggs, and bread since we were totally out.  Again, thanks to the busy week.  I had just parked my car and started walking in when I ran into someone from my Stake.  She is in the Stake Relief Society Presidency and her husband is in the Stake Presidency.

Now, let me just say that I hardly know this woman at all.  I know her enough to say hi to her in passing, but we have never actually spoken to each other.  I see her and say hi, and here is how our conversation went from there:

Me: "Hi!"

Lady: "Let me ask you something..."  (no smile, nothing)

Me: "Okay"

Lady: "Did your husband go to Priesthood session tonight?" (she doesn't even know Todd's name)

Me: (Oh no!  I totally forgot!)  "Actually, he didn't.  We forgot."

Lady: (not kindly at all) "Didn't he go to Priesthood with his dad while he was growing up?"

Me: "Yes, he did.  He is going to be so disappointed he missed it.  Priesthood is his favorite session.  I bet your husband is there ( I say with a smile).

Lady: NO RESPONSE...she just turned around and walked away.

She did leave me with some parting words however.  As she was walking away, she turned around, not enough to look at me, but enough so I could hear her, and she said "Well, make sure he reads it!!!"

I was completely dumbfounded!  I just stood there and thought that there was no way that really just happened.  I mean, seriously?!?!?  Wow!  I'm still kind of speechless about it all.

Conference doesn't start until 11am here in Kansas, so we spent the morning at the park with our binoculars and magnifying glasses watching for signs of Spring while walking the trails.  It was really nice.  It also helped our kids to be much more pleasant during our 4-hours of t.v. watching.

Anyway, we did watch both sessions of conference on Sunday and it was really nice.  For the first time in a long time, Todd and I got to hear at least 1/2-3/4 of the talks given.  It was truly a miracle.  Of course, our watching pleasure was interrupted by several brotherly arguments, a little 4-year old who pooped in his underwear, and this:  apparently Ava has a new trick.  :)

Welcome to my world of Bedlam with all my little Bedlamites.

Primary Talent Show

It's Talent Show time!  We had our primary talent show last night, in which both of the boys participated.

Here is our melted crayon art.  The boys had so much fun doing this craft and were pretty proud of the
finished product.

Riley wasn't nervous AT ALL when he played.  I would have been a nervous WRECK when I was his age.  This child never ceases to amaze me.

Tanner's class was supposed to dance and sing to this song...but as you can see, neither of those things really happened.  Sunbeams?!?!?  :)

Aftermath of Hail

What the Hail? We woke up this morning to see this! All of the screens on the West side of our house look like this. Yikes!!!!! Also, my poor daffodils have been obliterated. They are nothing but little piles of yellow and green. Sad.

All Hail The Mighty Hail!

Holy hail storm Batman! We just got SLAMMED with a hail storm the likes of which I have never seen. I am so glad that both of our cars were parked safely in the garage. And I am seriously worried about the state of my roof. Can't wait to see what damage awaits me in the morning. Yikes?!?!?

April Fool's Day Preschool Fun

For the past several months, my friend April and I have been taking turns having preschool at our homes each week. This week was my turn and I was so excited! We did so many fun things.

We made ooey-gooey slime.

We ate "hamburgers" and French Fries

We pretended to be fish who took showers, brushed their teeth, and rode bicycles...

...and then fell asleep on their rocks in the bottom of the ocean.

Here is the Goldfish song by Laurie Berkner.  She is one of my FAVORITE children's song writers.  He songs are super clever and fun to move to!

It was a fun, fun day at preschool!

Basketball Hoop

Well we finally got the basketball hoop up. It took many hours of assembly and a full lunch hour with 3 co-workers to hang it (the arm and backboard weigh over 100 pounds). The kids have been loving it since it adjusts from 10' down to 7' for the kiddos. Tanner can't quite shoot all the way to the top even when it's lowered but he sure tries hard. Riley gets frustrated really easily so I have to keep reminding him that you don't have to make every shot! We're officially ready for some good weather.
